Beachbody Workout Secrets

by Jesse

If you do not have the luxury of time to waste on the gym, then you will find these workout secrets a treasure. With these, you do not have to spend an entire afternoon on the treadmill. However, you need to maximize your gym time with a series of dynamic movements to do that. You need to constantly engage yourself in movements that tone the muscles, increase flexibility, and burn calories. Simply put, what you will do is give the traditional exercise routines a makeover, using more muscles at once.

Think of the movements as a three-dimensional movement, a rotational movement. This time, you will not just be moving back and forth and side to side, but diagonally and circularly as well – up and down, and over and around. When you exercise routines rotationally, it gives you a lot of muscular use with a very little impact, which helps prevent injury. When your movements are fluid, you help increase you body’s circulation, improve your metabolism, burn more calories – everything in one movement.

Follow these tips and get ready to have that body that you will want to show off.

  • Do the Twists – crunches and other traditional core exercises do not just shorten your torso, they actually do more harm that good for your posture. But the more you twist and stretch, the longer your muscles become. Despite common perception, traditional abs training shortens your muscles. What you can do instead is to do a similar exercise but in full range of motion like the helicopter squat. Not only do they make you look longer and leaner, they also prevent injuries from happening.
  • Go back to your Core – all of us know how important core training is in helping our stability, posture, and strength. But do you really know what your core is? If you think that core is just abs and back, then you are awfully wrong. Core does not just refer to your abs. Your core goes down as low as your thighs, almost to your knees. Although that part of the body is made up of many muscles, they all work as one to keep you stable and strong. That is why it is recommended that when you workout, you engage all of them in a mix of routines – not spot train. You can try routines such as the bent over press to give your core a real-life workout.
  • Think about your Posture – the way you stand when you execute a certain routine can greatly affect the way your muscles fire, affecting your entire workout in the process. When lunging, keep your weight on your heels and squeeze your glutes for maximum impact. Shift your weight from the ball of your foot to the pads of your feet throughout your workout.

The funny thing being is that you will learn almost all of these moves and many more when you check out some of the workouts like P90X, Slim in 6, Insanity or any of the other great programs you get familiar with as a Beachbody Coach.  If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments section.
