Almost everyone, men and women, from teenagers to athletes, consumes sports drinks before and during exercise as they find it helpful in playing games longer. Is drinking this necessary for you and helpful in maintaining your body conditions especially during the period of sports activity? It is better to be acquainted with its benefits and be familiar on the sports drinks you are drinking and if it does really help you.

Sweating loads as you do sports or are doing any activities like exercise could result to loss of body fluid, of electrolytes and other nutrients which may lead to dehydration. This is why sports drinks have been a popular beverage designed to help you rehydrate and at the same time restore the lost minerals, carbohydrates and other nutrients on your body. This kind of drink really helps you in preventing dehydration or any circulatory collapse and heat stroke since it contains sodium.

Water is in fact great for workouts or even before doing any physical activity to promote absorption into your intestine and prevent dehydration. Keep in mind that you should try to consume about 3-9 ounces every 15-20 minutes depending also on the sport you are into. However, consumption of excessive amounts of water (alone) can actually cause water intoxication which causes a fatal imbalance of electrolytes in one’s body that leads to disturbance of brain functions. So, taking sodium through sports drinks would help you in actuality.

Since there is countless variety of sports drinks shoved for our attention, it is necessary to pay attention if it is worth the money. Depending on the sport you are into, it would be useful to recognize which kind would meet your needs. Isotonic sports drinks contain similar concentration of salt and sugar which are suitable when engaging in intensive exercise like taking part in marathon or any sports match as it quickly replaces lost fluids.

Hypertonic sports drinks that contain higher concentration of salt and sugar are suitable to drink after an intensive activity. Water will be fine if you are only planning to do half an hour of badminton, while hypotonic sports drinks which contain lower concentration of salt and sugar is appropriate to drink when working out on a gym or when jogging as it supplement daily carbohydrate intake normally.

These sports drinks, indeed really aid in improving your performance level. And in addition, aside from preventing dehydration and boosting your energy level, consuming sports drinks can also increase your immune system, according to studies, through preventing drops in your blood sugar. Nevertheless, no matter how it benefits you, beware as well as there are also some beverages that contain unhealthy compounds that are dangerous to your health. Get yourself well-informed with everything especially the ones that you plan to consume.

If you really want a health alternative to the transnationals then you need to CHECK THIS OUT!

These pros and cons in taking creatine are the things to ponder on when deciding to take it or not. There are different types of plants who have different amounts and kinds of fibers. Dietary fibers include pectin, gum, mucilage, cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin. Pectin and gum are actually water soluble fibers that are found at the cells of plants. What they do is they slow down the passage of food through the intestines but to nothing to increase our fecal bulk. Food that contain soluble fiber include beans, oat bran, fruits, and vegetables.

Fibers in cell walls on the other hand are water insoluble, which means that they make substances easier to excrete from the body. Insoluble fibers include cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin. These fibers increase fecal bulk and speed up the passage of food in the digestive tract.

Insoluble fiber binds water, which is why it makes stools softer and bulkier. Fiber, especially those that are found in whole grain products, is very effective in treating and preventing constipation, hemorrhoids, and diverticulosis – diverticula are the pouches around the intestinal wall that can become inflamed and painful. Before, a low fiber diet was advised to treat this condition. But today, scientists have found out that a high fiber diet gives a more promising result as soon as the inflammation has calmed down.

High fiber diets are very helpful for people who want to lose weight the natural way. First, fiber in itself contains zero calories while providing a “full” feeling because it has a water absorbing characteristic. So do not be surprised when eating a whole apple is more fulfilling than drinking half a cup of apple juice when in fact both have the same amount of calories.

Fiber is found only in plant foods – fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains. Meat, milk, and eggs do not contain fiber. Canned and frozen fruits and vegetables contain almost the same amount of fiber as raw ones. However, certain types of food processing could reduce fiber content.

According to recent studies, an average American takes in about 14 grams of dietary fiber on a daily basis, which is significantly less than the recommended level. The current dietary fiber recommendation according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans is 14 grams of fiber per 100 grams of calories consumed. That means if you consume a 2500 calorie diet a day, you should take in approximately 35 grams of fiber a day. But of course, dietary intake varies depending on a person’s age and gender.

But although the Dietary Guidelines for Americans provide a general guide to healthy eating, the Dietary Reference Intakes provide on the other hand the recommended standards when it comes to the proper amounts of nutrients.

If you want the maximum amount of goodness, try adding some fiber to your shakeology and you will get the best possible results in the world! I know you will just love it!

In the world of exercise, there are lots of exercise forms to choose from but when it comes to benefits there isn’t a doubt that these exercises have proven beneficial to the overall health and well-being of persons doing it on a regular basis.

The dilemma is which exercise form to perform. This article will be discussing the exercise forms Pilates and Yoga, their differences and their various health benefits that one might be guided as to which form of exercise is best for the body she has or which exercise is best suited to fulfill the exercise goals one has set for herself.

Pilates and Yoga are currently two of the most popular exercise forms in the world today. Criticisms as well as praises have been thrown to practitioners of these two exercise routines. Comparisons have been made as to which regimen is the best but what people are unaware of is that both regimens are good for the body. The choice lies in the individual who is about to embark on a fitness activity. It is she who knows her body’s needs and wants.

Now to help that individual make the best choice for her body let this article go one through the differences of Pilates and Yoga. Pilates, as opposed to Yoga that has been around for more than four thousand years, is a new exercise form invented about 80 years ago and was named after the German athlete Joseph Pilates. Furthermore, if Yoga is an ancient exercise routine that entails a lifestyle change on the part of the practitioner for the latter to become a picture of good health who makes sure that Yoga exercises are coupled with a balanced diet and meditation, Pilates only requires its practitioners to perform the exercise routines properly to be able to experience its various health benefits.

Lastly, Pilates targets the core strength of a person’s body in that it tries to enhance it. It is also the best exercise when elongating the spinal column. Pilates furthermore tries to teach its practitioners how to possess good posture and how to maintain such a correct posture. On the one hand, Yoga offers its practitioners the opportunity to improve the physical well-being as well as their spiritual disposition. Yoga has been said to be a workout for the body and soul.

As to the health benefits of these two exercise forms, again, there isn’t a question that both Pilates and Yoga are VERY good for the body. The number one health benefit of Pilates is how it is able to strengthen the different muscles in the human body. Meanwhile, Yoga’s best health benefit is how regular practice keeps the practitioner from diseases.

If you desire eating even if you feel you are already full and after doing so you are suddenly enveloped with an abrupt rush of guilt and embarrassment, you may be having compulsive over-eating. Unlike bulimia, compulsive over-eating does not include vomiting after eating. And of course the end result would be weight gain, though it is not the same as the complex disorder obesity. And take also into consideration that not everyone who has overweight issues suffers from eating problems.

Compulsive over-eaters and their battle against eating beyond what is normal are generally worried and anxious about weight, food, and eating and the truth is their effort on controlling their over-eating habits and them losing in that battle is just the facade of other more in depth personal issues. And it may just yet be that they subconsciously use food to deal with everyday stress, emotional issues, depression, anxiety, and a low self esteem. And after eating, the feeling of shame and guilt again overcomes the person suffering from these issues.

Losing control on eating starts at the early ages, especially when the child’s eating blueprint is beginning to form. And compulsive over eating takes over the child in a very subtle manner, with the child searching for relief on food whenever he or she feels upset or angry at something or someone. The food somehow momentarily appeases the anger and depression within and the person grows up with the subconscious thought that food is the answer to his or her negative feelings.

Now, those who over eats compulsively recognized their disorder and are trying to overcome the said disorder by taking on a dozen ways to control it. More than often, the person afflicted with the compulsive over eating disorder tries on painstaking dieting which at the onset may really fix the weight issues but in the end does not really answer the underlying emotional and mental issues that has beset the person and has led him or her to over eat irrationally. And so, rigorous dieting only makes the person yearn for food more and therefore inadvertently boomerangs.

As of late, compulsive over eating has caught the attention of more people and they now understand that people suffering from this malady are not lethargic, lazy, and insatiable people and it is a proper condition. Before, when people look down upon those who have this kind of disorder, their pain increases exponentially and they turn more into eating.

Relief and recovery of course does not happen overnight. It is a gradual procedure that involves changes in a person’s lifestyle and assistance from the people around him or her. Understanding is what these people need, not condemnation or humiliation.

A great way to take control of what you are eating is through Shakology! I can tell you now as a Beachbody Coach I love the stuff. Not only does it make me feel better but I can honestly say that it helps me keep the fat off because I get such a full feeling from each of the shakes!

It is a fact that exercise is really good for you, and it can actually help you feel good. Getting the right amount of exercise can improve energy level as well as your mood. Exercise can provide benefits to each part of the body including your mind, and it can help you look better too. And there are many different ways and correct techniques to perform exercises that give best results.

Any workout program needs to be correctly balanced and made sure that every area of the body is exercised correctly and adequately. There should be a “symmetrical physique” where no body part is bigger than the other. A balanced training should be observed. The designed exercises for every part of the body should be balanced so as to ensure that both the major or minor muscles are worked out correctly. And if this is not properly and adequately done then it can result to poor form or reduced performance and it may even make you more at risk to injury.

The indication of great physique is symmetry so the exercise must not only focus on the upper part of the body like your biceps, shoulders, and back. There are many guys who work out in the gym and have big upper bodies but have small ass and legs because the legs are often left undertrained. And this results in an unbalanced look.

Your legs have large and strong muscles which are the buttock muscles which are called the gluteus, the quadriceps which is the muscle of the upper legs, the hamstrings which is the back upper muscles, and the calves. By knowing the important muscles of your legs, you can learn how to perform exercises to get your legs fit by transforming your chicken feet to beefy feet. There are exercises that can make your legs stronger and well shaped.

Most exercises develop all muscles of the body, and the legs should not be neglected because it is believed that leg exercises can produce a natural release of anabolic hormones in your body. This hormone is considered as the growth hormones which helps the building up of organs and tissues. The legs have large muscle groups and this needs lots of work to grow. If you perform good and quality leg exercises, it can cause larger caloric loss.

Your leg muscles are and should be strong and healthy because these muscles bear the weight of the whole body. And basically training and exercising your leg muscles will actually work your entire body.

There are different forms of exercises for the legs, and the most common exercises are the squats, leg curls, step ups and dead lifts. Some of the step ups and lunges can be simply done at home and special equipment is not needed. If you will do this religiously, you will notice that in a few months your legs will really have good shape. Running or walking can be good leg workouts, and you will observe that your speed is increasing and that the distances your body can handle will definitely improve.

You will find many great leg workouts in Insanity from Shawn T. When and if you are interested in becoming a Beachbody Coach, you will see that this is just one of many workouts that will strengthen your overall body beyond belief.

We often hear the word metabolism especially from people on a diet or doing the exercises to reduce their weight. The instructor in the aerobic class may always encourage you to do the exercises in any form to increase your metabolism. But do we really understand the mechanism of metabolism?

Metabolism is a broad term which refers to all chemical reactions to maintain life. This is the use of the food by the body after ingestion which results in energy. After digestion and absorption, the nutrients are carried by the blood to the cells of the body. And within the cells, nutrients are changed into energy through metabolism. The nutrients that provide energy to the body are the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. This energy is constantly needed for the maintenance of body tissue, temperature, for growth which is the involuntary activity, as well as voluntary activity like running, walking, and other ways of activity.

Metabolism rate may based on several factors such as age, gender, the amount and kind of food taken, lifestyle choices, exercises or daily activity. All of these factors may have a significant important on our metabolism.

We become conscious on our metabolism if we start to think of losing the weight. And our metabolism is a measure on how many calories we are burning each day. In order to burn more calories and to lose weight here are some tips on how to increase the metabolism.

Most importantly if one wants to lose weight, he must not start to starve him self because no food intake will only slow the metabolism rate and results in low or no burning of calories. This results to no fat loss at all and may even lead to an increase of weight. Low carbohydrates intake can result in weight loss but it can increase fatigability due to less energy. But too much carbohydrate deficiency can result to serious health problems.

As said, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Plan your breakfast by eating protein, drink green tea, and eat high fiber fruits. Eat 6-8 small meals each day, lesser carbohydrates, more protein, and avoid animal fats. Avoid alcohol because this will not do well to our metabolic rate. Have green and water for our drinks, at least 8-10 glasses per day.

Also, don’t stay up late at night. The tendency of staying up late at night, the body will crave for food and more food. And during sleep metabolism is slower than while you are awake and on activity, so more fats are deposited and less calories are burn.

The best way to increase metabolism is to watch your diet and do any form of exercises at least 3 times a week. It is also good for the body and health as well. Eat the group of healthy foods, the carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and vitamins and minerals.

Another great way to increase your metabolism is by working out with some of the amazing Beachbody products like P90X, Insanity, Slim in 6 or Turbo Fire. If you have any questions please let me know, I am a Beachbody Coach.

Back in the days, there didn’t seem to be too much emphasis on being a healthy individual. It was a different time so people didn’t focus too much attention in what they ate and how they lived.

These days, being and living healthy has become much more than a fitness plan. It has actually become a lifestyle which a lot of people chose to live. This is why nowadays there is actually an entire market devoted to living a healthy lifestyle.

If you have decided to go on and take part of this kind of lifestyle, there are things that you need to keep in mind. This is especially true if you plan on losing a bit of weight as well.

Now you have to remember that there is no magic formula that you can follow to be healthy. You also cannot expect to fully embrace it at the start, without having any kind of difficulty.

This is where a meal plan and an exercise plan come into the picture. There are many places that you can get this from, especially through the internet.

A meal plan is a guide that gives you what kind of food you need to eat in order to stay in the healthy lifestyle. The premise of such is not only to provide you with the right nutrient but to aid in building lean muscles as well.

This plan can be fitted according to your preference as to what kind of food you like to eat. Meal plans come complete with how much each portion of food you should take.

Meal plans are best coupled with a good workout routine. This way, you will lose weight and keep healthy much faster.

The best way to get on with exercise is to have a workout to do list. This list includes which kinds of exercises you need to be doing and how many reps you need to do.

A good work out to do list should be divided into warm up, cardiovascular, toning and cool down exercises to name a few. This helps maximize the exercise routine that you need to be doing.

Through the work out to do list, you will be able to choose which exercises you want to do. You can choose the intensity of the work out, according to your fitness level.

You will also be able to arrange your schedule so that you can be at home when you exercise. This is a major convenience and affords you with privacy as well.

Having a to do list when it comes to meals and working out is a really great idea. It is a great way to get organized in your journey to healthy living. When you are Beachbody Coach you learn that having a list of what to do next helps out tons. This is because it gives you the right direction to know what needs to be done in that order.

If you have any tips or suggestions that help you get things done better, please let us know in the comments section!

Many runners may experience a pleasant feeling of goodness in themselves after a prolonged run or after reaching a certain distance. Others call it a state of “high” and these may also be experienced by other athletes doing high intensity and high cardio exercises. Do these high intensity activities and workouts have a triggering effect on this kind of feeling? Are these common only to runners? These are questions that need convincing answers.

There are researches that show that it is not experienced only by runners but also by athletes like football players, surfers and others doing intensive and prolonged exercises. What does a runner or other athletes feel during these time? Others say that it may give the same feeling that an addictive drug can give, or does it? Why do these feeling that athletes feel good after doing these exercises? Scientists say that these could be due to endorphins or hormones produced by the body during exercises.

Athletes say that when they reach this state of “high” they have a feeling of invincibility and can do the most superior performance. Others say that these may also be a perception only. They say that when you experience a near perfect environment around you to acquire this good feeling, it could be a stimulus to get a feeling of “high”. When a man’s body is put under stress like what athletes do, the mind reacts correspondingly. The biological and psychological aspects of the person are taken to the forefront. Having achieved the expected results in the exercise may give that pleasant feeling.

The mind and body can be closely connected when athletes are doing the extreme. There is a belief that even when the body is no longer capable of doing a thing, when the mind commands, the body will follow. We have seen this type in runners and other extreme athletes. Their feeling of “high” can make them do the superior performance.

The feel-good effect after doing the high intensive exercise may have to do with body chemicals and systems that interact during the physical workout. These could only be adrenaline release, as some would say.

But if this is a “high” comparable to a feeling that an addictive drug can give, then concerns of withdrawal may also be a topic of discussion. If it won’t make you feel physically sick when you will not exercise or run, then it is not a concern. But if you will feel the opposite, then there is a problem.

It is not a major concern to most people, however. Majority of people doing running and other exercises may not produce that much hormones that can make you experience that kind of feeling. You may just be doing only the normal and regular exercise that won’t give you a feeling of “high”.

No doubt that you will feel this same type of high when you do one of the amazing Beachbody workouts like Insanity, Turbo Fire, P90X or Slim in 6 (just to name a few). As a Beachbody Coach I know all about it and I would l0ve to help you figure out what it best for you to get to your fitness goals.

Due to your hectic schedules and busy lifestyles, cooking for your meals may be almost impossible, so you usually grab your food from one of those fast food stores which are situated almost in every corner of your place, or buy packed processed food that can be easily prepared with the use of microwave. Eating is necessary to satisfy your physiological needs, but buying foods from the fast foods store is not a wise move since these foods are usually processed. Processed food usually contains additives and preservatives which aren’t healthy and good for your body.

Eating whole foods is most ideal since these are unprocessed and unrefined. Whole foods have no additives like sugar, salt, or fat. Examples of whole foods are fruits and vegetables, poultry, fish, unprocessed meat and non-homogenized milk. Whole foods provide nutrients in the most natural state, and when they are eaten it can absorb into the body and can help prevent illness.

Well planned whole food meals can reduce the risk of major diseases such as heart diseases, cancer, and high cholesterol. Eating whole foods can provide more vitamins and minerals that the body needs. The vitamins and minerals you can get from whole food and grains are several B vitamins, vitamin C, and minerals like magnesium, iron, and selenium.

Eating healthy foods (whole foods) can have health benefits. This food is also rich in fibers which reduce constipation, minimizes heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer. So always add fruits and vegetables in every meal.

If you want to lose weight, the whole food diet is best not only for reducing the weight but also for you to feel better and stay healthy. You can stay fit if you take whole foods and get the nutrients needed for an excellent health. Fresh fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients which are best for building body muscles.

The world’s healthiest foods are the food we eat everyday such as the fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, lean meat, fish, herbs, and spices, and these foods are available in your local markets. You can get Omega-3 fatty acids from a natural source like fish and nuts and this is better than buying the synthetic one. Also, you can get natural vitamin C from citrus fruits. And having a whole foods diet is easy to follow by simply avoiding processed and packaged foods, refined grains and sugars, and staying away from fast food restaurants.

Sometimes whole foods are often confused with organic food. Whole food is not necessarily organic, nor is the organic food necessarily whole foods. Always remember that whole foods have a very short life since it lacks basic processing. So finish it as soon as you can.

What I have learned as a Beachbody Coach, is that what you eat is just as important as how often you workout. This is where something like Shakeology is perfect, because you can get tons of great foods all in one shake!
