The Stone Age Diet

People cannot survive without eating. Food has always been the human body’s primary source of nourishment and sustenance. That said, modern food has been somewhat modified to make them taste better, look better. But with all the grease and other non-healthy ingredients, specifically canned goods, candies, and fast-food items, more people of today suffer diseases and other medical conditions that were non-existent in the ancient times.

The argument of such stand points out that prehistoric people, who never had the convenience of modern cuisine and dining, lived longer during their era. Theoretically, this people lived off as hunters and foragers. Agriculture was still not in their vocabulary and so was making stew out of a mammoth’s leg. Modern dieticians and nutrition experts argue that people from such times were extremely healthy in contrast to the modern human individual.

Though the issues is still under debate, many people including health and nutrition professionals, believe that achieving the same state of health and nutrition is very much possible in this age. Called the Stone Age Diet, modern people can emulate the same level of nutrition the cavemen did thousands of years ago. But with the current processes today’s food undergoes, it might be a little tricky to really eat the way cavemen ate their meals.

The composition of the caveman’s diet is really not far off from the modern man’s menu. However, it is kind of hard to really eat something one is not accustomed to. Cavemen ate meat as much as the modern humans do. But the glaring difference of such eating habit is that cavemen preferred meat to be cooked without much of the artificial flavoring, the sauces, and the herbs. One must understand that cavemen did not enjoy the benefits of a cooking class.

Another thing worth noting is the sugar intake of cavemen of the olden times. They did take sugar to their system, yet they did not have diabetes. Stone Age Diet practitioners claim that cavemen ate natural, unprocessed sugars such as maple sugar, honey, and date sugar.

All that said, you can still go on a Stone Age Diet without really having to hunt for game or search the woods for wild berries and fruits. All you need to know is what type of foods you should indulge on and what you should avoid getting into your system.

For starters, meat always has to be lean. You could go for lean beef, sirloin, flank steak, and lean pork loin.  Eggs are good too. As for poultry, go for breasts, whether it’s chicken, turkey, or other game birds. Nuts and seeds are highly recommended in Stone Age Diet menu, specifically hazelnuts, macadamia, sunflower seeds, walnuts, and cashews to name a few. Fish is also welcome.

As for the foods you have to avoid, stay clear from ALL dairy products. That includes milk, butter, ice cream, cheese, yogurt, and all processed foods made with any dairy ingredients. Cereals are also not recommended for people who want to go on Stone Age Diet. That includes rice, barley, rye, oats, and wheat.  Artificial sweets and candies are also banned from a Stone Age Diet’s list of encouraged foods.

Though the debate is still on whether or not Stone Age Diet is efficient in really enhancing the modern individual’s health and nutrition, may people are already hooked. The general view on this particular eating habit is widely positive and should be a clear indication on how this diet positively affects the lives of people who tried it.
