What I have been telling people and what I have written about before is the importance of writing down what your goals are. This does not matter if it is for P90X or anything else that you want out of life. It is so important that you have clear concise goals as to what you really want out of life. Way to often people just go through the motions and don’t really have any proper direction as to what they want. What is so magical about writing them down is that your mind then has something that it can grasp upon and know what it is that needs to be done in order to make it happen.
I know I may sound a little preachy about all of this but it is so important it you are serious about making your goals happen. I think that people just need to take a step back sometimes and look at the greater picture. What is it that you really want? What are you willing to do to get there? What are you willing to sacrifice? Yes, unfortunately that is what it takes sometimes…that deeded word…SACRIFICE. Often times when you want something that is special you have to be willing to give up something that is not. For example if your goal is to get in the best shape of your life through an amazing system like P90X, then in order to get there you will have to sacrifice things like sugar. I know that this is a hard pill to swallow for some people as I know many that are addicted to things like sugar and they don’t even realize it.
You see, it is all about wanting to make more of yourself. When you write something down it makes it that much easier for your mind to grasp it. Bob Proctor is a one of my favorite motivational speakers/authors, he say that for most people seeing is believing but for the truly successful believing is seeing. What he means by this is that you have to be able to see it and envision yours success in whatever it is that you want. When you see it in your minds eye, you will then believe that it will happen for you. When you believe it will happen, you will be willing to take the actions necessary towards accomplishing your goal.
All it really takes is for you to take a 3 x 5 card and write down what it is you want, when you want it by and what you are willing to do to make it happen. When I was doing P90X for the first time I wrote down, ” I want to get in the best shape of my life and to get 6-pack abs in 9o days. I am will do P90X everyday for the 90 days to accomplish this. I will also cut out all junk food and eat as health as possible.” That is all it takes, I read this card every night before I went to bed, when I got up and right before my workout. It made a world of difference.
